24 August 1956 the first standard 10 class registered at the School.

In 1954 the first standard 8 class had 7 learners, of these only 4 went on to standard 10 of 1956 (All Boys)
Of the 18 standard 8 learners of 1955, 14 went on to standard 10 of 1957 (5 girls).
76 learners started standard 8 in 1956 and 21 went on to standard 10. 7 were in the English class.

1956 were the last time Provincial exams were written in standard 8, those years a good qualification.

Of the 100 learners in standard 8 in 1958 only 25 went on to standard 10 in 1960.

In 1955 the school had 238 learners.
1956 there were 374.
1958 it grew to 631.

The first 'Year Book' (annual) was published in 1955.

The first permanent principal was Mr. H.J. Cilliers. (Virginia High School)
In 1962 the name changed to Hentie Cilliers and on 4 August 1962 Mr. Cilliers died at a relative young age shortly after the name changed.

In 1955 the words 'Arbeid Oorwin' (Work Conquers) first appeared on the School Badge (Then Virginia High School).

In 1955 the School Anthem were written by A.B. Cilliers and composed by T. Van Huysteen.
